Love love love my new jacket! I used McCall’s 5525 pattern which I already had in my pattern collection. My mom sent me the Blizzard Fleece and matching buttons and right when I saw the fleece I knew I wanted to use this pattern. It is so warm!

The McCall’s pattern is for a semi-fitted, lined and double breasted jacket. I used design A of the pattern because I love the interesting collar. The pattern has a lot of parts but it is very easy to follow. There are princess seams, side front pockets and a self-tie belt. The  jacket is meant to be made with cotton blends or similar materials with a silk lining but the fleece was easy enough to use. The fleece is obviously thicker and took some patience sewing. I tried to make the jacket even warmer for winter with a fleece lining but it was way too thick and you would need to go up a few sizes to get it to fit properly. Instead, I used purple cotton and it worked great. I will definitely use the pattern again with more fabric choices.

This is the first fully lined jacket that I have sewn and I found the instructions easy to follow. The buttons that my mom matched to the fabric are so much fun!

Who is Elaine?

I grew up watching my mom crafting and sewing so it was only natural that I took up doing the same hobbies. I live in Romania and came here almost five years ago, I fell in love, got married and never left. I love spending my spare time creating fun things like cards, cross stitch or stuffed animals. Please join me in the wonderful world of crafting!
